Port Saint John Modernization
The Port of Saint John expansion project ($205 million) is significantly expanding the port’s capacity and capabilities and positioning Saint John as an important part of the Atlantic Gateway.

Port Saint John currently has three regular container services including CMA CGM, MSC, and Hapag-Lloyd, and is the only port in Atlantic Canada with rail optionality. Hapag-Lloyd Container Service
Hapag-Lloyd's new Saint John Express connects Northern Europe with key markets using the Canadian Pacific Railway network in Canada (Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver) and the United States (Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis).
Not Just Cargo
Not only can we handle your container cargo, we are also equipped to handle bulk and break bulk. Our Port offers terminal optionality; with heavy load-bearing capacities and significant open area for complex lay down requirements.
Stevedoring
Stevedores are contracted to coordinate the labour required to handle the cargo move both on and off the vessel and through the terminal. They can also provide any necessary equipment for the cargo move. With the exception of the DP World facility, all three stevedores can operate at Long Wharf, Lower Cove and Piers 10/11.
CMA - CGM Container Service
CMA CGM is the third largest container line in the world with a niche North-South service connecting to points in Central and South America and the Caribbean. CMA uses the Canadian National Railway service which has access to major population bases in Central Canada as well as the US Midwest. Calling Saint John weekly since 2017, CMA CGM makes a trans-shipment through Kingston, Jamaica through to the Caribbean & Central/ South America.

Marine pilotage services and expertise in the field of navigation and safety. Extensive experience in working within the Bay of Fundy and Saint John Harbour. Pilots and fleet positioned in Saint John.
Ancillary Services
Port Saint John has access to competitive ancillary services, including barging and towing, industrial fabrication, and engineering firms in the Province of New Brunswick.
Large Scale Barge Facility
Spruce Lake Industrial Park is home to a large-scale barge facility. This facility features a large barge docking area with a large scale wide/heavy duty roadway which connects to Spruce Lake Park and has 1 km access to major highways.
MSC Container Service
MSC is the largest container line in the world, connected to 315 ports globally. MSC has been calling Port Saint John regularly since 2012, with trans-shipment through Freeport, Bahamas. MSC offers a weekly service, connecting Atlantic Canadian importers and exporters with Global Markets. The line offers 20/40ft dry standard and high cube containers, refrigerated cargo options, and flat racks for over-dimensional cargo solutions.

CP can market your intermodal containers, which would otherwise move empty, and use them in the North American market to provide low-cost repositioning to the Maritimes.
Automotive
The Saint John automotive compound is the closest Atlantic Canada vehicle distribution centre to the automotive production centres in Ontario and the U.S. Midwest. The compound has capacity for 18 multi-level auto racks and approximately 600 vehicles. Its close proximity (2.5 miles) to Port Saint John facilitates fast and efficient service for automotive compound customers.

CP's acquisition of the Central Maine & Quebec Railroad (CMQ) gives us access to key Atlantic ports. Our network gained 481 miles of additional track in Canada and the U.S., with five short line connections. This creates optionality for our customers and positions CP as a full coast-to-coast supply chain provider.
